Why did the wiring start to rot?

Almost every car owner sooner or later begins to encounter electrical problems - flickering or not working headlights, a broken alarm, heated seats or fan/air conditioner not working, and so on. In this article we will look at the reasons why wiring may fail.

Bad engineering decisions

If the car is designed so that the wiring is located close to the wheel arches, then the electrical problem will be a regular occurrence. Especially if there is no plastic protection for these same arches. All dirt, water and snow will fall on the wires. Also, the engine wiring harness is greatly affected by moisture. It is located under the hood and connects the engine sensor system, which is responsible for its normal operation. If water gets inside the harness, the engine will refuse to start. In this case, the problem will be especially relevant for residents of coastal settlements with a very humid climate and temperature changes during the day, since the condensate that forms directly under the hood will settle and drip onto the harness.

The problem associated with technical solutions also applies to frame SUVs. Often, corrugations with wiring are attached directly to the frame. In wet weather or winter, the frame is constantly damp, and the corrugation also has a longitudinal cut into which reagents, sand and water fall. As a result, the insulation is destroyed by the aggressive environment and the wire begins to short-circuit.

Poor quality service and repairs

Clogged drainage holes and a large amount of water from the street lead to moisture accumulating under the inner lining, falling on the lighting wires, lifts and headlights. Thus, the wires begin to short out and damage vehicle components. Also, on top of that, problems can appear after the car has been repaired, even if the wiring has been repaired. If twists are used to connect wires, then constant vibrations when moving on primers will quickly loosen the fasteners. And if moisture gets on it, then problems are guaranteed.
