Review and comparison of Skoda Octavia trim levels
Skoda Octavia is a modern city car from a Czech brand with a rich history. In the automaker's product line, this compact liftback (C-Class) is located between the subcompact Rapid and mid-size Superb. Since 1959, the Skoda Octavia has sold more than seven million units.
The fourth generation model is distinguished by its recognizable design, elegance and practicality. The car is equally good as a family vehicle for a wide range of tasks, and as a corporate car. According to the manufacturer, it has equipment typical of higher-end models.
Currently, Octavia is not available for purchase in Russia, although it is widely represented on the secondary market. The latest generation of Skoda's compact liftback is characterized by a bright but not brutal appearance, rich equipment, a carefully thought-out interior and compliance with modern safety standards.
We bring to your attention a small introduction to the Octavia model and its trim levels, available in early 2023. Let's start with the exterior.
Exterior
The latest modification of the Skoda Octavia was offered in seven body color options. The so-called crystal design in which this model is made is based on Czech cubist architecture and the art of working with crystal. Thanks to this approach, the headlights and taillights look stylish and unusual.
Among the key features of the exterior decor of the Skoda Octavia are:
bold and confident front design, created primarily by a hexagonal radiator grille with vertical elements;
predatory LED headlights, hinting at the novelty and high performance of the car, and also giving it a confident image;
large, high-quality 18-inch wheels, with which the compact liftback fully reveals its potential in terms of handling.
Dimensions - 4689 × 1829 × 1485 mm (length × width × height), wheelbase - 2686 mm. The ground clearance is 158 mm, the standard luggage compartment volume is 578 liters, with the rear seat backs folded down - 1533 liters.
Interior and comfort
The latest version of the Skoda Octavia can be found in three trim options:
Active Plus (black). The seats are upholstered in Narbe Rube fabric and have silver decorative inserts.
Ambition Plus (black). Although there are visual differences, the seat trim is the same - Narbe Rube, there are Silver decorative inserts.
Style Plus (beige). This is a more luxurious option - the interior is trimmed in leather in combination with faux suede, and Piano Black inserts are used.
The car is characterized by a spacious rear row, with enough space for three adult passengers. The interior uses many useful solutions that increase the usability of the car for both the driver and passengers.
Drivers and passengers will appreciate useful features that make the liftback easier to operate and maintain: an electronic parking brake, a windshield washer reservoir cap that acts as a funnel when open, niches for storing umbrellas, a 60:40 folding mechanism for the rear seats, and much more.
Engines
For Russia, the car was produced with three gasoline engines: a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated and two turbocharged ones. Their characteristics look like this:
1.6 MPI. Displacement - 1598 cm3, maximum power - 110 liters. s., torque - 152 Nm, maximum speed - 198 (manual transmission) or 196 km/h (automatic transmission), acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h - 11.2 (manual transmission) or 12.7 seconds. (automatic transmission), average fuel consumption - 6.2 (manual transmission) or 6.9 l/100 km (automatic transmission), transmission - six-speed manual or automatic.
1.4 TSI. Displacement - 1395 cm3, maximum power - 150 hp. s., torque - 250 Nm, maximum speed - 227 (manual transmission) or 222 km/h (automatic transmission), acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h - 8.2 (manual transmission) or 8.9 seconds. (automatic transmission), average fuel consumption - 5.7 (manual transmission) or 5.5 l/100 km (automatic transmission), transmission - six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic.
2.0 TSI. Displacement - 1984 cm3, maximum power - 190 hp. s., torque - 320 Nm, maximum speed - 229 km/h, acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h - 7.5 seconds, average fuel consumption - 6.0 l/100 km, gearbox - seven-speed automatic (DSG).
In any version of the liftback, the transmission is front-wheel drive, the brakes are disc (both front and rear).
Active Plus
In the basic configuration, the liftback is equipped with exterior mirrors painted in body color, heat-insulating glazing, lighting for poor-quality road surfaces, LED headlights, headlights and rear lights. Wheels are steel, size 16".
The front cabin features a center armrest, two USB ports and make-up mirrors. The driver's seat is height adjustable, and the trunk has lighting, a shelf and a 12-volt power outlet. Multimedia - 8", Bluetooth support available.
In terms of functional equipment, the basic Skoda Octavia can
boast air conditioning and heated exterior mirrors. All windows are electric, the front seats are heated.
The safety of everyone inside the liftback is ensured by:
XDS differential lock;
ESC stability control system;
front and side airbags;
emergency communication device "ERA-GLONASS";
tire pressure monitoring system;
ABS system that prevents the brakes from locking.
Ambition Plus
In the medium configuration, the compact Skoda liftback is equipped with lumbar support with mechanical adjustment. The trunk has two storage compartments (located on the sides) and a set of nets. Safety options include curtains and a two-tone horn. Wheels - light alloy 16 or 17".
Active Plus versions with automatic transmission have cruise control with speed limit. The equipment also includes dual-zone climate control and a cooled glove compartment, an automatically dimming interior rearview mirror, heated windshield washer nozzles, LED fog lights and rear parking sensors.
Starting with this configuration, the car is equipped with light and rain sensors. The first ensures that the headlights automatically turn on when visibility deteriorates, the second turns on the wipers if it starts to rain. Among the multimedia options, the SmartLink+ system has been added.
Style Plus
In the top-end configuration, the liftback is decorated with a chrome trim on the lower radiator grille. The headlights have a cornering function, and the rear lights have dynamic turn indicators. The seat upholstery is combined (leather and faux suede), the steering wheel is multifunctional, with leather trim and automatic transmission controls (except for versions with a manual transmission).
The center console has a curtain with a blind mechanism. The footwell and interior are illuminated with LED lamps, the logo is projected in the doors, and the makeup mirrors are illuminated. There is a central armrest at the rear; for additional convenience of transforming the interior, there is a mechanism for folding the rear seats from the luggage compartment.
The side exterior mirrors are electrically folding, and the driver's mirror has a dimming function. Among the safety options, the top version of the liftback is supplemented with blind spot monitoring and reverse exit systems, Kessy Full central locking, anti-theft alarm and rear parking radars. The SmartLink+ system supports wireless connection via WLAN.
