Changan: what kind of brand is it and what cars does it offer?

Changan Automobile Group is one of the largest Chinese automobile concerns with a rich history behind it. It went from a small artillery shell factory in Shanghai to the world's first brand to produce 20,000,000 vehicles.

In Russia, the concern is represented by the word Changan. It is formed from two Chinese characters. Chang in translation means “durability”, and An “safety”. It is these qualities that the company values above all else and puts at the forefront when it comes to car production.
Changan: then and now

In the past of the Changan brand there are many controversial issues shrouded in mystery. It is believed that it originated in Shanghai in 1862 on the initiative of Li Hongchang. The factory was called Shanghai Foreign Gun Bureau and was engaged in the production of shells for artillery guns.

During the Sino-Japanese War, the brand was called Jinling Arsenal. In 1937, its production facilities were moved away from the front, to Chongqing, where Changan's headquarters are still located.

The first SUVs under the Changan brand began to be produced in 1958, when the brand was renamed Chongqing Changan Machinery Works. Since then, Changan has set a course for developing the production of civilian cars.

Modern Changan Automobile focuses on technological development and progress, investing 5% of revenue in the development and development of new research and development centers. There are already research institutes of the brand in Italy, England, Germany, China, Japan and the USA. They develop the design, chassis, engines and gearboxes that Changan uses to implement new products.

Perseverance, a competent approach to production and research into modern technologies have brought the brand to the leading position in production - in May 2021, Changan produced the 20 millionth car, becoming the first company to reach this mark.
